Reiki Therapy
Hi everyone
Not much blogging on this site lately. I have been experiencing more debilitating health problems that make nearly all activity (regrettably including playing piano and saxophone and composing) a struggle. Those who have read other health related entries in this blog know that my health has been an evolving issue for nearly 3 years and answers are far fewer than the amount of treatment and searching might be expected.
After a rigorous analysis of my neurological symptoms at the Motion Disorders Clinic at Toronto Western Hospital, the good news is that there are no life threatening nor progressive ailments. However for a musician, ‘essential tremors’ (which are confirmed and diagnosed and being treated with a semi-effective med) are horrible. Not only do they play into the fine muscle movements required to play, they undermine self confidence and use up valuable amounts of energy.
What to do?
Thanks to the recommendations of friends Holly and Tara, I have found my way into some alternative approaches. At the moment I have completed my second session in Reiki Therapy. Already I see benefits. The session today was very deep and relaxation and stress reduction are clearly working.
A positive sign is that I have been able to write significant amounts of music today and I can’t tell you how wonderful that feels. No fatigue and a much more confident me was behind the process.
I plan on tackling the alto next. Or perhaps soprano. Tenor later. My piano playing is pretty messy at the moment, but I’m confident that will come back as well.
I know many friends, former students and fellow musicians occasionally read this blog so I thought this might be a good way to update without invading anyone’s email space.
As they say in Reiki,
With highest blessings,
Paul
