IAJE

Just finished an intense and interesting week at the IAJE conference (International Association for Jazz Education) in Long Beach, CA and now heading off for a few days rest and relaxation. The conference affords an opportunity to see people I don’t get much chance to hang out with: Mike Steinel, John Davis, Howie Smith and so many others. Had a fun evening hanging with Howie and Jim McNeely. Jim is writing so well and told me he has a couple of new CDs with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra coming out. Can’t wait to hear what he has been up to lately.
We are currently in Laguna Beach and head down to San Diego tomorrow. The weather has been historic! More rain in SW California than in anytime in the last 40 years or more and more to come. We have seen many roads flooded out and had a difficult time reaching our hotel last night. We fly home on Thursday and will be there for a week. Have a rehearsal scheduled on the 17th with The Jazz Mechanics to work the music I wrote in November. Should be fun. Then off to the condo in Florida for a bit of an extended stay. I have more writing projects on the go.
